Established in 1888 by Miss Florence Baldwin, who was "dedicated to the tradition of academic excellence in education for girls and young women." The Baldwin School will celebrate its 125th anniversary in 2013.

Many Baldwin students have dual citizenship and their parents are naturalized citizens with birthplaces in Liberia, Philippines, Korea, China, Japan, India and Pakistan.

More than one-third of the Class of 2012 has been recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation: six National Merit Semi-Finalists, five National Merit Commended Students, one National Achievement Scholar and one National Achievement Outstanding Participant.

School campus is easily accessible to the R5 train line from Philadelphia.

Athletics:

Athletic teams are Inter-Ac affiliated.

Sports include cross country, field hockey, soccer, tennis, volleyball, basketball, dance, indoor track, track & field, swimming, squash, crew, golf, lacrosse and softball.
In 2010-2011, Baldwin student-athletes captured Inter-Ac Titles in tennis, squash and Middle School soccer; three undefeated seasons in Varsity squash, Middle School squash and Middle School soccer.

Tuition ranges from $19,000 for full day Pre-Kindergarten to $28,000 for Upper School.
