Martin Luther King Jr. service day activity assists disaster victims

The Baldwin School partnered with the Salvation Army’s Jammin’ for Jammies campaign, which collects pajamas for children in need, on Monday, Jan. 17. The School collected and distributed gift sets, consisting of pajamas, educational books and toiletries for those families in need. These sets will be given to the Thompson Family Pajama & Underwear Pantry, which distributes pajamas and underwear to victims of fires, floods and other disasters. On Martin Luther King Day, Jan. 17, the School community met in the Multipurpose Room of the Athletic Center to sort, build and arrange gift sets for the Salvation Army.

Baldwin lawn signs are back! Our next All School Open House is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 13 from 2 to 4 p.m. Please show your Baldwin spirit and place a lawn sign in your yard to help spread the word. Signs are available now and may be picked up in either the Residence, Admissions or the Lower School offices. Thank you very much for your help and support.

Youth Coalition sponsors talk on cyberbullying

The Coalition for Youth of Lower Merion and Narberth will sponsor a free program on cyberbullying Sunday, Jan. 23 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Middleton Center of Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church. No reservations are needed. For more information, click on the flyer in the right column of this newsletter.

Ardmore Library seeks submissions for poetry contest

The Ardmore Library's Sixth Annual Charlotte Miller Simon Poetry Contest will accept original poems until Jan. 21. The children's division is for six to 12 year-olds, the teen division is for 13 to 17 year-olds, and the adult division is for 18 years and older. Cash prizes are awarded for first, second, and third place in each division. Please find information and registration forms in the far right column on the Lower Merion Library website.

India trip meeting rescheduled

An informational meeting about an Upper School trip to India in June was postponed due to the inclement weather. The meeting has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 1 at 6 p.m. in Room 203 of the Science Building.

A Message from Head of School Sally Powell

Baldwin has many means of notifying you if school will be closed or opening late for any reason: a message on our website; a message on our main phone; a phone message to you via our AlertNow system (Occasionally this message is delayed if there is high phone traffic;) an email message; postings on local TV stations. We recommend that you check multiple sources if you are unsure. A two-hour delay means that faculty and staff report to school by 10 a.m. and students report to homeroom at 10:15 a.m.
