Baldwin’s Lamplighters represent the confidence, self-awareness, school spirit and leadership - evidenced in part by their idea to create this special webpage - present in all Baldwin girls.  Through campus tours, introductions to classmates and faculty, one-on-one conversations, and written correspondence, Lamplighters offer a genuine behind-the-scenes look at what it means to be a “thinking girl.” It is through these channels that visiting girls form unique connections and friendships with our students, easing the transition should they decide to enroll.

"Never be afraid to approach upperclassmen; they soon will become like sisters to you. Never be afraid to form close friendships; we are all in this together," wrote one Lamplighter to a newly accepted Baldwin student.

Each of Baldwin's 80 Lamplighters in Grades VI-XII makes visitors feel comfortable and welcome in the community, whether by introducing them to a favorite club advisor or including them in a conversation in the Dining Hall about a challenging homework assignment or recent team win.  Lamplighters also give tours to prospective families throughout the week and during the Open Houses at Baldwin.  Their “thinking girl” pride shines in all that they do.

Go on a mini-tour with Baldwin Lamplighters and theater mavens Julia Dewey and Michaela Shuchman by viewing the video below, and scroll down for a rotating feature (check back periodically!) on other 2011-2012 Lamplighters.
