The Baldwin chapter of Girls Learn International is dedicated to the
movement for universal girls' education and empowering the students of
its partner school in Pakistan, the Khanott
School.
The students, faculty, and families of the Baldwin School
community are invited to attend a musical fundraiser and a showcase of
the cultural exchange between Baldwin and the Khanott School. Guests
will have the chance to see the beautiful handmade crafts sent from
Pakistan in January and the quilt that the Baldwin chapter students
plan to send to the Khanott School girls. Each square of the quilt was
made by Baldwin students and features an inspiring word that
emphasizes the importance of girls' education - words like "future" and
"empower."
Those who attend the event will also hear singer Romeena
and guitarist Sami Kureishy perform traditional Pakistani music live,
and watch Baldwin junior Anjalie Field perform Indian classical dance.
Pakistani hors d'oeuvres will be served as well.
Guests of "Girls Going Global: Art & Activism at Baldwin & Beyond"
will be able to feel like a part of the Baldwin and Khanott School
partnership, which has blossomed over the past three years, while also
experiencing a taste of the culture of the Indo-Pak subcontinent.
Admission is free; donations to Girls Learn International are encouraged.
Please RSVP by May 7 to Nadia Tareen at Nadia.Tareen@gmail.com. For more information visit
