Council for Spiritual and Ethical Education supports the moral and spiritual development of young people by providing resources and educational opportunities to elementary, middle, and secondary schools.
Council for Spiritual and Ethical Education is a broad consortium of schools committed to
• effective education for moral leadership and ethical decision making
• quality instruction about the world’s religious traditions
• spiritual growth in a religiously diverse world
• service, in our communities, to our world community
CSEE has a 106-year history. For most of the 20th century we were known as Council for Religion in Independent Schools. The Council changed its name in the late 1990s, out of sensitivity to schools working on moral and spiritual growth, but with no firmly identifiable religious affiliation.
Today we serve some 300 institutions across the United States and Canada, and work with both schools and parents to foster moral development, ethical leadership, and spiritual growth.
