| The Multicultural Resource Center |
|
The Multicultural Resource Center (MCRC) founded in May 1990, grew out of a vision shared by Kit Reath, director of the Resource Center; Blair Stambaugh, head of The Baldwin School; and Randolph Carter, formerly of N.A.I.S.
One of the key decisions for The Center was to house it at Baldwin where it continues to flourish today. The physical site of the Resource Center, located in a large room outside the Baldwin Library, was made possible by a generous gift from Baldwin parents, Rosalind and Roy Neff.
The Center’s continuing goal is to promote increased diversity in school curriculum, faculty and student body. We work to enrich our schools through increased knowledge of diverse cultures and diverse perspectives within our own culture by addressing such issues as racism, sexism, and economic and social inequity, and prejudice in all forms, violent and subtle.
The Center has a membership of 38 area independent schools. Its governing body is made up of 20 independent schoolteachers and administrators representing ten area schools. Each year the Resource Center presents three programs for teachers, administrators and students.
