This two-week Spanish language and Costa Rican cultural immersion trip includes a homestay, community service, travel and adventure. The service projects benefits the small community in which we live. We also visit an organic chocolate farm, zip line through the canopy of the rainforest, surf, spend time on the beach and practice yoga.
The Villefranche French Exchange offers our students the opportunity to live with a French family in a total immersion situation and attend classes at our sister school Notre Dame de Mongré. The girls will spend several additional days touring Paris and the Lyon region. Later in the year, the French students will visit Baldwin and live with our students to complete the exchange
Every few years our Upper School music department takes a variety of groups, including the Chorus, B-Flats, Firenze and Belles, abroad for a performance tour. During their 5-10 day visit, the groups perform in a large variety of venues, including music festivals, cathedrals, retirement homes and schools. An impromptu performance with local groups is always a possibility as well! The 2011-2012 trip destination is Denmark
the perse school england In Middle School, our girls developed a unique friendship with students at the Perse School in England. An all-girls school in Cambridge, Perse shares some unique characteristics with Baldwin - including our Head of School, Sally Powell, who was a student at the school. A group of Grade VIII Baldwin students pairs up with Perse students who communicate via email and Skype before participating in a 10-day exchange. The visit includes attending school as well as visiting local sites while living with a host family.
In seventh and eighth grade, the students studying French have the opportunity to participate in a trip to the Province of Quebec in Canada. This allows them to travel to a place where French is the primary language spoken and to expand on what they do in the classroom. The students spend one night in Montreal and two in Quebec City. Activities include visiting the Ice Hotel and Chateau Frontenac, outdoor ice skating, dog sledding, snowshoeing, and enjoying the famous Winter Carnival. The students will eat in quaint restaurants and at a traditional Cabanne à Sucre.
middle school international trip

This Middle School trip is a four to five day Spanish language and Puerto Rican cultural immersion opportunity. Students will be able to practice the Spanish they have learned in the classroom in a variety of settings while traveling, eating, and touring Puerto Rico.

For their senior externship, several students travel to Tanzania, Africa to volunteer at the Rift Valley Children's Village. For three weeks, the girls and chaperone live with the children at the orphanage and spend their days tutoring, playing, and simply providing much needed love and support. They work with local Maasai who take care of the children and even learn a few Swahili phrases. A safari to the nearby Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara is also included in this unique trip.
