Multi-Cultural Events at Baldwin

African Feast
Ms. Jan Evans brought her recent experiences from Tanzania to her Grade I students, who have been studying African’s land, animals and people.  The educational unit included researching African animals, learning African songs and games, creating a rainforest and taking a virtual safari trip to Kenya.  Most recently, the girls put the finishing touches on their African dolls, jewelry and “lappas” (African dresses) – for which they created unique prints of the animal they had researched.  The unit will culminate with an African feast, where the students wear their lappas and have an authentic African experience, complete with food, songs and games.

Spanish Fashion Show
Grade IV students hit the catwalk in a big way during today’s fashion show. Classmates announced the fashionstas’ garb in Spanish without missing a beat.

Fashion with Compassion: A Night of Insight

This exciting and vibrant event featured a multicultural fashion show, a henna station, and a photo booth. Baldwin Girls got a taste of international cuisine and heard fascinating presentations from Husnia Akrami, a high school exchange student from Afghanistan, and from Aleeza Wachs, who had many interesting stories to share about her volunteer work with a women's group in Nepal.
