Nicole Wells '12 Commits to Yale

In addition to Futures, Nicole also plays for Xcalibur, an independent club team and national powerhouse. With Xcalibur, Nicole has attended the National Indoor Tournament since 2007, and plans to once again qualify for the tournament this winter, her last year with the club.

Nicole has attended four National Festival Tournaments, held during Thanksgiving, and earned gold medals in 2010 and 2011. She and her team have also garnered medals at the Disney Wide World Sports Showcase in 2010 and 2011 and in the National Club Championships, also in 2011.

Nicole has also represented Baldwin in the Pennsylvania Keystone State Games on Delaware Valley's First Team from 2008-2010.

At Yale, Nicole intends to major in East Asian Studies or Economics. She is the first Baldwin field hockey athlete to play at Yale, a team that has climbed the Ivy League ladder in recent years and won the Ivy League title in 2011. Yale Field Hockey completed the season ranked #21 in NCAAA Division I Field Hockey.

“Nicole is an outstanding field hockey player with strong stick skills and versatility. She has a real passion for the game and is dedicated to being the best she can,” shared Kathleen Simone, who coached Nicole for 4 of her 5-year high school career at Baldwin. “I think Yale is an ideal match for Nicole athletically and academically. I anticipate that she will be instrumental in continuing to help Yale rise in the national rankings. I can’t wait to see her play!”
