Liesel Hud has been the head coach of highly competitive rowing teams at all levels: international, scholastic, pre-elite and masters. She has a successful record for graduating student-athletes and their recruitment to college rowing programs. Her athletes have competed at the highest levels including: the U.S. Junior and Senior National Teams and the Olympic Team.
As an athlete, Coach Hud came into rowing after a very successful athletic career. At LaSalle University, she played Varsity Basketball and was M.V.P. for both the Varsity Track and the Varsity Tennis. She was the Captain of the Tennis Team. In high school, she was Scholar Athlete and M.V. P. for Varsity Basketball. As a rower, she competed at the World Championships for the U.S.A. in the Quadruple and Double Sculls and was a member of the U.S. Pan American Team. She won the U.S. National Championships 7 times.
Prior to joining Baldwin, Coach Hud started The Agnes Irwin School’s crew and led them to 10 Scholastic National Championships titles. Her crews won the Philadelphia City Championships and the Stotesbury Cup Regatta multiple times. Her other non-scholastic crews have won multiple USRowing National Championships at the Junior, Senior, Elite and Masters levels as well as winning the Head of the Schuylkill and medaling at the Head of the Charles.
Coach Hud has served on the U.S. Olympic Women’s Rowing Committee establishing the criterion for U.S. National Team selection procedures. She has also served as Treasurer to The Schuylkill Navy, Philadelphia’s Rowing Governing body on the lower Schuylkill River.
Coach Hud lives in Philadelphia with her husband and two sons.
