In the 6th inning, Baldwin loaded the bases with two outs on singles by junior Fiona McCanney and Melhem and another walk by Horwitz. Freshman Gabbie Ciccone drove the first pitch she saw in the hole between the first and second basemen for a two-run single that put the Bears ahead. AIS managed to get a runner to third with two outs as they tried to tie the game in the 7th, but Zimmerman induced AIS three hitter Taylor Lord to bunt straight back to pitcher for the final out.
Baldwin head coach Preston Bannard said of the game, “This win was truly a team effort. Noelle did a great job keeping them off balance at the plate all game long, we made some great plays in the field behind her, and we got key hits throughout the lineup. The team showed a lot of heart to come back from three runs down against one of the best pitchers in the league."
