Twenty Baldwin girls assembled in the Chorus Room on Saturday, August 23 at 8:30 a.m. for an all-day adventure of singing and bonding with the Baldwin B-Flats, our select, a cappella singing organization.

As we get ready to start the 2014-15 school year, we want to make you aware of an exciting change regarding student photos. This year, we will be working with a new independent photographer, Mark Tassoni. Mark’s photos are shot outside and the results are lovely portraits that you’ll cherish for a lifetime.

Earlier this summer, senior student staff members of The Hourglass traveled to Columbia University for a week-long workshop on high school student journalism. Rachel Dichter ’15, editor-in-chief of the Upper School’s student newspaper, Kate Leone ’15, managing and imaging editor, and Evelyn Grupp ’15, design editor, each took a different class during the Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA) workshop.

Varsity Field Hockey hosted St. George's School for Girls from Edinburgh, Scotland in a friendly scrimmage game Thursday morning on the Lower Field.

Lewars Academic Preseason is a program to help new Middle School and Upper School students acclimate to Baldwin. The program is instructed by Baldwin faculty and covers academic expectations, student life, and review strategies for reading, writing, and research. Lewars Academic Preseason is offered at no cost, thanks to a generous donation from Mrs. Nancy Corbit Lewars ’60.

Baldwin alumnae are invited to join Sally M. Powell, Head of School, along with former and current faculty for drinks and hors d'oeuvres at The Racquet Club of Philadelphia on Tuesday, Sept. 23, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Noelle Zimmerman '16, shortstop and co-captain for the varsity softball team, was recently selected to play for the New Jersey Cheetahs Under 18 Premier fastpitch team.

Baldwin student Anika Iyer '17 recently brought her efforts to help others to the stage, combining her passion for dance with a purpose for philanthropy. Through her Bharatanatyam Arangetram, her debut classical Indian dance solo recital, Anika raised more than $5,000 for the local Conshohocken based charity Cradles to Crayons.

As the summer months come to an end and the start of a new school year quickly approaches, Baldwin is proud to introduce the newest members of the faculty.

Co-Editors-In-Chief of Baldwin’s yearbook, Lolly Anapol ’16 and Laura Nguyen ’15 are already hard at work on the next volume of PRISM. On July 27, the girls traveled to Gettysburg College, where they attended Jostens Yearbook Summer Workshop.

Middle School softball standout Julia Kait '19 was selected this summer to the Lower Merion Little League District team.

Hannah and Rachael Tipperman ’15 were featured in an article on Philly.com and in the Philadelphia Inquirer, highlighting their efforts to educate kids about robotics through their nonprofit, Robot Springboard. The story takes a closer look at the camp Hannah and Rachael hosted at Drexel University, as well as those in San Jose, Costa Rica and Homer, Alaska.

In honor of their victory at the Ardmore Rotary Sing-Off competition in April, four Baldwin B-Flats Lila Williams ’17, Cristina Artis ’17, Katie Phillips ’17, and Maddy Carré ’16, were recently recognized by the Ardmore Rotary Club at one of their weekly meetings.

On July 22, Baldwin faculty and students embarked upon a life-changing journey to Tanzania, where they will spend the next three weeks immersed in Tanzanian culture at the Rift Valley Children’s Village (RVCV). On this service trip, the girls will take care of the orphaned children of the village with loving support. They will assist with the everyday tasks and needs of the community, such as preparing meals, tutoring, and spending quality time with the children as they listen and learn about the rich culture of the region.

Now celebrating its first anniversary, the DREAM Lab® is continuing its momentum and expanding to the Middle School for the 2014-15 school year, building on the foundations of programming, design, and discovery.
