125th Anniversary

Now celebrating its first anniversary, the DREAM Lab® is continuing its momentum and expanding to the Middle School for the 2014-15 school year, building on the foundations of programming, design, and discovery.
Making music never ceases at The Baldwin School, as Harp Instructor Candace Lark-Masucci held her annual Harp Master Workshop in the Residence Assembly Room last month. We are looking for Baldwin harpists to join this Harp Community!
Five members of the varsity lacrosse program were named to the 2014 All-Main Line lacrosse team. Ali Thaler '15 (First Team), Eliza Mantelmacher '15 (Second Team), Ive Gonzalez '15 (Honorable Mention), Hayden Ivey '16 (Honorable Mention) and Shayna Silverman '16 (Honorable Mention) represented Baldwin lacrosse.

Krista Hinchman '15 was interviewed by TopDrawerSoccer, the #1 Destination for College and Club Soccer in America, this past week regarding her verbal soccer commitment to Loyola University (MD). 

Maddy Brill-Edwards '15 served as co-captain of the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association Under-17 state team that captured the 2014 Region 1 Olympic Development Program championship at Kirkwood Soccer Club in Delaware.

Three varsity softball players were selected All-Main Line for the 2014 season. 


Shayna Silverman '16, varsity lacrosse goalkeeper, has been named as a 2014 Brine National High School All-American.

Although the school year has come to a close, Baldwin girls continue to expand upon their intellectual curiosities beyond the classroom. Abigail Andrews ’15 will pursue her interest in prenatal genetic disorders at Dr. Marcus Davey’s (P ’23) lab at The Center for Fetal Research at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia this summer.  
Recent Baldwin alumna Julia Tyminski ’13 will play the role of the acid queen in The Who’s Tommy at Theatre Horizon in July. Julia will take center stage in this hit rock ’60s musical that tells the story of a young boy who grows up to become an international pinball superstar after emerging from a catatonic state. Originally performed as a rock opera written by The Who, the work was adapted for the theater by Des McAnuff, offering an exciting and timeless story for both young and old to enjoy.

Baldwin alumna Clara Park '96 is scheduled to appear on the Food Network's program "Chopped" on June 17. Tune in to see this alumna compete against other top chefs.

Four Baldwin alumnae joined Sally Powell, head of School, on Thursday, June 5 to congratulate their daughters in the Class of 2014 as they received their diplomas.
Baldwin Latin students in Grade VI entered their finished video projects in the 2014 LegacyQuest International Children’s Film and Video Festival under the direction of Classics Coordinator Jeannette Keshishian and Classics Teacher Preston Bannard. The students were all awarded at least an Honorable Mention. Students independently created videos that illustrated the contest theme of antiquity’s legacy in contemporary life. After submitting all necessary entry requirements and conducting independent research, the girls eloquently demonstrated how elements of modern society have been impacted by history in a wide variety of subject areas from fashion to storytelling.
On Friday, May 30, the Lower School held its Award Ceremony to recognize the academic achievements of its students for the 2013-2014 school year.
On Thursday, June 5, at the Middle School Moving Up Ceremony, Samantha Raymond ’18 received the Ruth Fiesel ’38 Award in recognition of her contribution to the life of the Middle School. During the ceremony, incoming Upper School students received their Lamp of Learning pins. Select Middle School students also received the Outstanding Contributions to the Life of the Middle School Award, in recognition of the many meaningful contributions they have made to the School. 
On Thursday, June 5, 2014, 52 seniors graduated from The Baldwin School as the 126th graduating class. They will continue their education at colleges across America, as the seniors earned 271 acceptances to 121 colleges and universities in three countries (United States, Scotland, and Ireland). They will pursue higher levels of education at some of the most prestigious institutions in the country including Brown, Columbia, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Military Academy, and the University of Pennsylvania.
