The weeks continue to fly by in Pre-K. Everyone is enjoying the Fall season. This time of year helps us reflect on the true meaning ofgratitudeand beingthankful. We have been discussing with the girls the meaning of these words and we give thanks for the many joys in our lives, like our Pre-K girls.
The girls did a great job guessing what letter we are working on next. Based on the clues given, they figured outDdis our new letter of the week. This week the girlspracticed writingupper and lower case Dd. We are reviewing all letters and sounds taught to date in addition to the Dd sound. The girls learned how to use their arm as a guide for sounding out words. We tap our shoulder, elbow and then wrist for each sound heard in a three letter word. Then we blend it together. Have your daughter demonstrate how totapout the word dog. We madeDotDogs in computer class for a fun Dd reinforcement project. The girls continue to enjoy our classroom friend,Echo. Echo is an owl who guides us each morning during circle with letter recognition and phonemic skills. Echo points to a letter and we Echo back what she says. This really helps us strengthen those letter recognition skills. Ask your daughter to echo for you.
Inmathwe learned a new song which helps remind us how to correctly form numbers. You may have heard your daughter singing it. This is a fun way to learn a tricky skill. We also are reviewing the correct sequence of numbers, more/less and problem solving.
