OVERVIEW:
Our students are encouraged to experience science as a process of inquiry about their physical and natural environments. Skills such as observation, classification, utilizing measurement tools, applying logic, using science vocabulary, and thinking creatively are developed and practiced. Formulating predictions based on their experiences, the students can test their predictions, make observations, collect data, look for patterns, and state generalizations that are supported by evidence, not intuition. Through these processes our students develop their problem-solving and critical thinking skills in a developmentally appropriate way.
Children learn science concepts best by active examination of age-specific materials and concepts. Hands-on explorations in the classroom and outdoors help students to apply principles and construct an understanding of physical and natural science ideas.
Correlated with National Science Education Standards and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Science and Environmental Standards, our program lays a strong foundation of science literacy for our students.
