Annual Alex Wake Run honors her memory and supports scholarship fund

The Baldwin School will honor the memory of former student, Alexandra Wake '05, on Saturday, May 2, with the sixth annual Alex Wake Memorial 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk Beginning on the school’s campus at Montgomery and Morris Avenues in Bryn Mawr.  Proceeds from the run will benefit a memorial scholarship in Alex's name.


Registration begins at 8 a.m., and the run and walk take off at 9 a.m. Both are road races supervised by the Lower Merion Police Department. Electronic chip timing will be used for all runners, and medals will be awarded in eight age categories.

Cost is $15 per student and $25 per adult prior. A family of five pays only $50. Pre-registered participants are guaranteed T-shirts. Last-minute participants are also welcome.

Alex Wake was only a freshman at the Baldwin School when she was killed Jan. 15, 2002 in a senseless act of domestic violence. Alex was a vibrant and promising member of the Baldwin School community, which was devastated by her death. While at Baldwin, she was a member of the cross country and winter track teams as well as many other clubs and organizations.
