| PEACE Day focuses on disabilities |
|
3/18/2009 The Upper School Diversity Club presented its annual PEACE (People Embracing All Cultures Everywhere) Day on March 16. This year's theme focused on developmental, visual, hearing, and physical impairments and disabilities.
The day began with a viewing of the film, I am Sam, followed by an afternoon of discussion groups. Speakers included a deaf teacher and his interpreter from the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf and a blind woman who attended Overbrook School for the Blind. Two Baldwin alumnae also spoke: one about the difficulties faced by wheelchair-bound people and their need for greater access to all areas of life, and another about coping with a mental health disability. |
