A Message from Middle School Director Lois Pressman

Happy New Year and welcome back! The Schoolhouse was buzzing with excitement on Monday morning as the girls greeted one another after the long vacation. I could not help but reflect on the fact that as we reach the midpoint of the year, we have certainly achieved that much sought after feeling of community that supports and encourages every member of the Middle School.
A Message from Lower School Director Baiba Vasys

Welcome back!  It was wonderful to see your daughters arrive on Monday, eager to start classes again after their long winter break.  I heard many terrific stories about their vacation adventures!  We started off the New Year with two new Lower School students.  Please give a warm welcome to Veronique (Nika) Volfson in second grade, and Elizabeth (Libby) Dawejko in fifth grade.  We are delighted to have them join the Baldwin family!  Warm wishes for 2009!

It is with great pleasure that I announce the appointment of our new Chief Development Officer at Baldwin. Jeffrey Appel will join us Feb. 1 and will assume leadership of both our capital campaign and the Development Office. Jeff comes to us from Washington College in Maryland and has had several years of experience in the independent school world as director of development and assistant head of school at Berkshire School in Sheffield, MA. Please join me in welcoming Jeff to our Baldwin family.
A Message from Head of School Sally Powell

There is great excitement at Baldwin as students are busy getting back to the business of learning. Stories of family, food, travel and friends are peppered with discussion of classes, assignments and schedules.  It’s as if we have never been apart!  However, 2009 has dawned with uncertainty and challenge for all of us. It is with great comfort that we look to our Baldwin community that has for more than one hundred and 20 years been here to serve and support us. Challenges are best met head on, and we are all facing these turbulent financial times with the common goal of ensuring the very best educational opportunities for all our girls. The Board of Trustees will meet shortly to determine the tuition rates for 2009-2010 and also the compensation rates for our dedicated faculty and staff.
