A Message from Head of School Sally Powell Last Tuesday evening, Oct. 26, we hosted the first “Only @ Baldwin,”
forum, one of three annual gatherings focusing on matters that relate to and
directly affect our community. The evening’s topic of discussion was Baldwin’s
current financial outlook and the metrics we currently use to evaluate and
ensure our school’s continued forward momentum as an institution.

"One Book One Lower Merion" is a series of varied programs that are relevant to a book selected by the One Book One Lower Merion Committee. This season's book is
Remarkable Creatures by Tracy Chevalier, a fascinating story of two women who changed the course of scientific understanding of evolution through their discovery of fossils in 18th century England. Baldwin will host one of these programs on Thursday, Nov. 11 when
Dr. Ted Daschler of the Academy of Natural Sciences is the featured speaker. For more information, click on the download in the right column of this newsletter.

It’s not too late to register for Saturday Enrichment Sessions! “Inside the Actress’ Studio,” is a Saturday morning program for girls in grades two through five that focuses on presentation, etiquette, social interactions, and communication skills. Kimberley Kleczka offers this program which takes place on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

A Message from Upper School Director Eric Benke We had a terrific Halloween festival on Friday; it was a fun and happy day. Coming up, the first quarter of the school year ends this Thursday; The Fall play is the weekend of Nov. 12 and 13, and Class Picture and Picture Retake
Day is Nov. 17. Nov. 17 is also the evening of the Junior Parent/Student College Night – all members of the junior class should plan to be there with their parents at 7 p.m. in the Assembly Room.

School. It became a mini day of
community service!

The Baldwin Maskers will stage Neil Simon's hilarious Rumors Friday, Nov. 12 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 13 at 2 and 8 p.m. in the Multipurpose Center of the Athletic Center. You are invited to the 10th anniversary dinner party for the Deputy Mayor of New York City and his wife, where you will enjoy, according to the New York Post, a "light, frothy and fun" evening of farce and comical miscommunication.

The Art Departme nt is pleased to announce that the Autumn 2010 All-School Art Exhibition is now on view in the Residence Art Gallery. The art highlights selected work from grades from PK to 12. The show runs through Nov. 23. Please stop by and enjoy the work of our Baldwin artists.

Our After School Enrichment Program, "Thinkingirls After School," offers a wide variety of fun and engaging courses for girls in grades PK through V.
Winter courses begin the week of Dec. 6 and end the week of Feb. 14.
