Prospective Student Athletes

Blue Gray is the parent organization dedicated to enhancing the Baldwin School’s athletic program and through that program, serving the school community. Within the philosophy of the school's mission, Blue Gray focuses on raising funds for the athletic program, providing a vehicle for interested parents to share ideas, and consolidating volunteerism.

The Alex Wake Memorial 5k Run & 1 Mile Walk is Blue Gray’s largest community effort, and is planned annually in collaboration with Baldwin’s Development and Athletic Departments. The event commemorates the life of Alex Wake ‘05, a Baldwin student, who tragically lost her life in 2002 as the result of domestic violence.  The Alex Wake Memorial 5k Run & 1 Mile Walk raises funds for an endowed scholarship in her name and brings awareness to the devastating effects of this abuse. In addition to funding a perpetual scholarship, a percentage of the proceeds raised helps to underwrite Blue Gray’s other endeavors in support of the school.

Membership is appointed by the Baldwin Administration. Membership is for one year. Division Representatives can serve additional years, by invitation, if their daughter changes divisions. Divisional Representatives are eligible to be appointed as President.

alex wake runFour-hundred runners and walkers – more than ever – took place in the Eighth Annual Alex Wake Memorial 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk on April 30. The event raised more than $40,000, a marked increased over previous years. In addition to funding an endowed scholarship in Alex’s name, a percentage of the proceeds will help underwrite Blue Gray’s endeavors in support of Baldwin Athletics including educational programs. This year, the Women’s Council of Montgomery County presented age appropriate information and handouts at student assemblies for all division.

The event was presented by Blue Gray, Baldwin Athletics and the Development Office. Blue Gray would like to thank the generous sponsors, volunteers and participants for making the event a great success and for supporting the Alex Wake Memorial Scholarship Fund and Baldwin Athletics.
