The Position
Associate Director for Prospect Research and Donor Relations
The Development Associate will report directly to the Chief Development Officer

Essential Functions
  • Develops and implements a comprehensive program of research on individuals, corporations and foundations that are prospects for significant financial support or can in other ways help to advance the school's mission.
  • Manages the prospect tracking and moves management system pertaining to leadership prospects and major gift pipeline.
  • Prepares comprehensive biographical research reports and background material on prospective donors for the Head of School, Chief Development Officer, development staff and leadership volunteers.
  • Works closely with the Database Manager to ensure comprehensive database integrity.
  • Prepares proposals, case statements, stewardship reports, speaker remarks, and occasional magazine articles.
  • Oversees recognition programs including naming opportunities.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
  • An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 3-5 years experience in donor research and prospect tracking and management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member
  • Ability to work independently and creatively
  • Knowledge of school-related fundraising databases, particularly Raisers Edge.
  • Ability to establish work priorities.

Description:
Baldwin is seeking applications for an intern for the upcoming semester. This is a wonderful opportunity for an individual who is interested in exploring the field of development and or the non-profit world. The position will work with the directors of annual giving and alumnae relations. Interns will develop an understanding of the development field by assisting with: data gathering and peer institution research, archival management, email and direct mail marketing and solicitations, and special events and projects. This is a non-paid position, but a modest stipend may be offered.
 
Dates:
24-40 hours per week. Full days preferred.
Fall, spring and summer terms (start- and end-dates are flexible)

Requirements: Applicants should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, an interest in development, non-profit management and marketing. S/he shall possess superior organizational skills and attention to detail, database/spreadsheet experience, on line research skills and social media experience; knowledge of Raisers Edge or similar database management software is a plus.
