The Athletics Department's goal is to not only provide a wide variety of athletic experiences, but to also help each young woman and each team reach a high level of success. Student athletes are given opportunities to develop their personal management and leadership skills, self-esteem, cooperation and team work, values, coping skills, sportsmanship and physical fitness while being well instructed and motivated to strive for excellence. We encourage you to read about the accomplishments of our student athletes in our athletic news section.
Baldwin athletes are expected to commit to the full athletic season. Practice and game schedules vary depending on the sport; practices typically last for two hours and may be required during weekends and holiday breaks. The full details of eligibility and expectations for student athletes and parents can be found in the Parent Athlete Handbook. In the Upper School, students who compete on an interscholastic team are exempt from physical education classes for that season.
The Upper School competes in the Inter-Academic (Inter-Ac) League consisting of the following schools: Agnes Irwin School, The Episcopal Academy, Germantown Academy, Academy of Notre Dame, William Penn Charter, and Springside School. Baldwin also competes against various parochial and independent schools at both middle and upper school levels. Local public schools are often found on our schedule, varying from sport to sport.
Baldwin takes pride in providing its students with a new state-of-the-art athletics center, unique physical education classes such as Yoga and dance, as well as teams in the competitive Inter-Ac League and resources to keep them at the top of their game.
