The mission of the Baldwin School Library is to support the learning activities of the school; facilitate the development of students, faculty, and staff as effective and responsible users of ideas and information; and to foster a lifelong habit and love of reading and learning.
Three separate facilities welcome all members of the Baldwin community for research, study, and recreational reading. Libraries in the Early Childhood Center, Lower School, and Schoolhouse (Anne Frank Library - Middle and Upper Schools) provide appropriate materials in comfortable settings for individual and group work. Print and electronic materials are carefully selected to support the curriculum, and instruction in their use is provided within the context of units of study. Three full-time librarians work to integrate information and research skills into the curriculum, with the aid of two support staff members. Baldwin’s library collection strengths are women’s studies, multicultural studies, and history. Access is provided to an additional 15 million titles through inter-library loan from more than 3,000 school, public, academic and special libraries throughout in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The Libraries are open and staffed Monday through Friday, 8a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with extended hours in the Schoolhouse Library for grades 6-12 until 6:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
