She works hard helping to improve team morale, encouraging teammates to work hard until the final buzzer.”
TURNING THE CORNER: The Bears face a daunting schedule featuring talented teams with much bigger enrollment.
“We’re a young team that has great potential and the improvement that I have already seen this season is incredible,” said Warren. “Our coaching staff has injected the fundamentals in a unique and creative way. It’s going to take some time, but I think we have a great future.”
Team defense has been major focus, and it has proven effective in the first part of the schedule.
“Defense comes from the heart and that is one thing that Baldwin basketball is,” added Warren. “Regardless of what our record is coming into a game or what the score is, we don’t give up. Defense is where we really show that.”
THREE-SPORT STAR: Warren was part of the 8-6-6 Baldwin soccer team that received the 2009 Girls’ Sportsmanship Award from the Chester County Sports Officials Organization.
She was recently named to the U.S. Lacrosse High School All-American Honorable Mention Team. A member of the varsity lacrosse team since seventh grade, last spring she led the nationally ranked Bears in goals (99), shooting percentage (64 percent), assists (42) and draw controls (64) and finished second on the team in ground-ball controls (80). Her freshman year was even more amazing when she posted 126 goals, one of the highest recorded national totals.
BIG FOOTSTEPS: She’s following in the footsteps of another remarkable player at Baldwin, Emma Hamm.
“That was incredible when I played with her when I played up in middle school,” she said. “You can learn more from just being on the field and watching players like her handle situations.”
FAVORITE PRO ATHLETE: “I am a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan, and although he may not be a huge contributor this year, I’ve followed Jeremiah Trotter since I was young.”
SHE’S ON THE CASE: She is one of the heads of Baldwin’s Mock Trial team and is also a member of the Baldwin Model Congress group.
“[In Mock Trial] we’re given a case in the state-wide competition and we prepare and compete with schools in the area. Regardless of whether you’re interested in law, it’s invaluable. You have to act quickly on your feet. I’m passionate about that.”
COLLEGE DESTINATION: “I don’t know if I am truly prepared to make a decision at this point. I plan to visit as many colleges as possible and keep my options open. I want to make sure I am comfortable with the decision I will be making.” | | back | |
