Varsity Swimming Beats Merion Mercy in Close Non-League Meet
Merion Mercy’s Lizzy Manning took first in the 200 freestyle, while Baldwin’s Emily O’Brien took second. Placing first in the 200 Individual Medley was Amanda Ter Doest. Merion Mercy’s Allegra Malgier was a close second.

Freshman Val Yoshimura from Baldwin won the 50 free. Chip Kelly from MMA was second. This gave Baldwin an eight point lead. Baldwin expanded their lead with with a one-two finish in the 100 butterfly (Maddie Pujadas, and Maddie Noteware, respectively.

Baldwin increased the lead significantly with another one-two finish in the 100 freestyle with Yoshimura winning her second race of the day and Sophomore Emily O’Brien out-touching Merion Mercy’s Elizabeth Loftus.

 Merion Mercy held strong and took a one-two finish in the 500 freestyle with Manning and Tricia Markey.

Merion Mercy caught up to Baldwin with a win in the 200 yard Freestyle Relay with Lewerec, Schrieber, Koab and Battin taking first place.

Baldwin Sophomore Katie Edward scored an impressing win in the 100 backstroke.

Sealing victory for Baldwin with a first and second finish were Sophomores Pujadas and Noteware in 100 breastroke. In the final event, the 400 free relay Merion Mercy’s Loftus, Parker, LaManaca and Rossi took first place.
