Athletics are an integral part of the overall curriculum at Baldwin.
Baldwin offers 16 sports programs, boasts state-of-the-art athletic facilities and is a member of the historic and competitive Inter-Academic Athletic League and Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association. The goal of Baldwin Athletics is to foster a safe and fun environment that allows each student-athlete and team to have a positive and successful experience. Whether pursuing team or individual goals, each girl is given opportunities to develop her time management and leadership skills, self-esteem, cooperation, teamwork, sportsmanship and physical fitness while being well-instructed and motivated to strive for excellence.
The primary elements of character the Baldwin Athletic Department hopes to nurture are:
Commitment—improving yourself, your teammates and the team through persistence and dedication
Attitude—toward the game, toward practice, toward the important lessons learned in success and failure
Respect—for your teammates and coaches, opponents, officials and yourself as an athlete
Excellence—as the hallmark of your efforts, your goal both on and off the field
Integrity—you are your own judge at all times and should be responsible for all of your actions and words
Sportsmanship—respect and appreciation of the challenge the opponent provides and playing hard but fair at all times.
The Athletic Department works jointly with the College Counseling Office to provide resources and support for student-athletes interested in participating at the collegiate level. Baldwin has a number of remarkable student-athletes who have continued their athletic career after graduation. Check out our Beyond Baldwin section of the website to see a list of graduates who have continued their careers at the college level.
Baldwin takes pride in providing its student-athletes with state-of-the-art athletic facilities, unique physical education classes and resources to keep them at the top of their game.
