Erica Weinstein '05, PhD, was recently named by Business Insider as one of the 30 biotech leaders under 40. Business Insider came up with a list of 30 leaders, through nominations and past coverage, who are shaping the future of medicine. From advances in cancer treatments to using genomics to better understand diseases, to technologies that let you edit, silence, or otherwise manipulate genes, the young leaders in the industry are paving their way through their businesses with biomedical research that sounds closer to science fiction than actual medicine.
Erica is an associate at the venture firm Flagship Pioneering and has cofounded Cygnal Therapeutics, which is working on treatments for cancer, immunologic diseases and regeneration.
She credits her "amazing Baldwin teachers who fostered risk taking in order to ask the difficult questions."
