Baldwin Welcomes New Faculty and Staff

This coming school year, The Baldwin School is excited to welcome its new faculty and staff members. Michelle Bederman - Manager of Enrollment Events and Student Visit Experience – Michelle is a recent graduate of Emory University in Atlanta. She recently worked as an Admissions Intern and Intern to the Director of the Upper School at her alma mater Hathaway Brown School, an all-girls Kindergarten – Grade 12 private school in Shaker Heights, OH.

Pia Awal Beirne - Coordinator of Academic Support and Enrichment - Pia holds an M.S. and M.Ed. from Bank Street College of Education, served as a Learning Specialist at Riverdale Country School in New York City and was in private practice helping students with executive functioning and social emotional growth. She will work closely with our Pre-K through Grade 12 School Psychologist Dr. Jessica Spatz-McNeary, as part of a coordinated effort to support all our girls. Pia earned her BA degree from Columbia University.

Alison Fritz - Director of Lower School Enrollment – Alison was most recently the Associate Director of Institutional Advancement and the Director of Admissions, Early Childhood at The Philadelphia School, a Preschool to Grade 8 private school in Philadelphia. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Union College.

Alexandra Greco – English Teacher - Alex recently completed her M.Ed. in Arts in Education at Harvard University and is working on her M.A. in English Literature from Middlebury College. She previously taught English at Mariana Bracetti Academy Charter School.

Spring Greeney - History Teacher – Spring is currently working on her Ph.D. dissertation in History from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she earned her M.A. degree. She most recently was the Academic Director for the Great Books Summer Program at Amherst College and was a Teaching Fellow at Harvard University; she earned her B.A. degree from Harvard University.

Pat Landau Smith - Physical Education Aquatics Instructor - Pat has been serving as a Baldwin Swim Club instructor and our Assistant Varsity Swim Team Coach since 2012. She also teaches private swim lessons. Pat earned a B.S. degree from University of Delaware.

Ida Malloy - Coordinator of Civic Engagement – Ida most recently was a History Teacher and Communications Skills and Coach at The Pennington School in New Jersey. She was also the Vocational & Life Skills Coordinator for Rescue Mission of Trenton. Ida earned her M.A. from Richard Stockton College of New Jersey and her B.A. from LaSalle University.

Jane Mittelman - Computer Science and Engineering Teacher - Jane recently completed her M.S. in Education from the University of Pennsylvania, holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Temple University and taught engineering, physics and design at St. Paul's School, where she helped launch the FIRST Robotics Club.

Jason Potten - Instructional Coach, Math and MS Dream Lab Teacher – Jason comes to Baldwin from the Lower Merion School District where he served as both a teacher and administrator. He earned his B.S. in mathematics from Lebanon Valley College, Annville, PA, and is currently working on his dissertation for his Ed.D. in Educational Leadership.

Patricia Silva – Spanish Teacher – Patricia has more than 30 years' experience teaching Spanish, 10 years of which were at Baldwin. She most recently taught Spanish at The Shipley School. She earned her B.A. from Maryville University, her M.S.L.S from Drexel University and her M.A. in Modern Languages from Villanova University.

Ashley Spaventa - Pre-Kindergarten Teacher - Ashley graduated from Centenary University in New Jersey and has worked with a range of elementary school grades and in an early childhood program.
