Khalidah Barakat '09 Develops Mobile Canvassing App

Khalidah Barakat '09 is the co-founder, marketing and public relations executive of a tech company called EDAY APP Inc., a canvassing and market research application that uses real time data and tracking to assist clients with strategizing their campaigns. EDAY launched the app on May 13, 2019, just eight days before the Philadelphia primary election. Their first client was candidate Tracey Gordon, who ran for Register of Wills against a powerful 38-year incumbent. Gordon believed in the EDAY app so much that she used it during her race even though it was in beta test mode.
The app, along with Gordon’s strong field strategy to collect and analyze real-time voter information, helped her make history by becoming the first African American and woman to win her seat in the city of Philadelphia.
Khalidah and her partner El Shafiyq A. Alli used their combined 20+ years’ experience in field operations and set out to change how campaigns across the country collect data. They created EDAY to be very user friendly, powerful and an intuitive real-time canvassing app. They are setting their sights for elections across the country in 2020.
