Baldwin Welcomes New Faculty and Staff

Meet the newest members of the Baldwin community. 
This coming school year, The Baldwin School is excited to welcome the following new faculty and staff members.
 
Caity Cantrell joins the Lower School as a Grade 4 Teacher. She has both a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degree in Elementary Education from High Point University in North Carolina, and comes to us with teaching experience in multiple Lower School grades. Most recently, she taught second grade at Red Bank (NJ) Elementary, though her passion lies in the "upper" elementary years of 4th and 5th grade.
 
Kristy DiGiacomo joins Baldwin as Director of Advancement Operations. She has a B.A. in Child Development from Lynchburg College. She was most recently the Director of Reporting and Database Management, West Chester University Foundation, West Chester, PA.
 
Naomi Faszczyk joins the US faculty in the Languages Department. She has an M.A. in Hispanic Studies and Literature from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in English and Spanish from Rutgers University. She has taught at both the high school and university level and recently taught internationally at the American International School in Israel. She also brings expertise in health and wellness. A certified yoga instructor, Naomi has taught yoga and given workshops on stress management for youth and adults.
 
Richard Fooks joins Baldwin as a Van Driver. Following a career in management, Richard has been driving professionally for the past few years, transporting students with special needs to Melmark Home and Tredyffrin/Easttown School District, in addition to driving for Krapf Bus Company in the West Chester area for public and private school students.
 
Maureen Garling joins Baldwin as a Staff Accountant. She most recently was Vice President and Assistant Controller at First Priority Financial Corporation in Malvern, PA. She has extensive experience in accounting, operations and trading in commercial bank finance and treasury functions, including progressive functional and management responsibilities in the areas of bank accounting and control, deposit and liabilities administration, investment portfolio accounting, securities processing and operations and support.
 
Alison Hassenplug joins Baldwin as a Kindergarten Teacher. She holds a B.A. in Elementary Education from Elizabethtown College and an M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education from West Chester University. She most recently was the Director of Education at The Malvern School in Glen Mills, PA.
 
Dana Hunt joins Baldwin as a Pre-Kindergarten Assistant Teacher. She holds a B.S. in Childhood and Early Adolescent Education from The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA. She was previously an instructor at The Episcopal Academy.
 
Shawn Jordan joins Baldwin as the Director of Facilities and Operations. He has more than 25 years of experience in the maintenance and electrical construction industries and was recently the facilities director at Delaware Valley Friends School for the past 12 years.
 
Liz Koster will serve the Baldwin community as the MS and US Counselor. She earned a B.A. in Psychology from Haverford College and an M.S. in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania. Liz brings more than 10 years of counseling experience, working in a variety of settings and with a wide age range of students. Liz is looking forward to using a “relational approach with students and families to cultivate an environment where people feel empowered and willing to explore challenges.”
 
Stacey Lang joins Baldwin as the Manager of Enrollment Operations. She has a B.S. in Business Administration and an M.A. in Business and Professional Communication from La Salle University. Most recently she was an HRIS Analyst at Einstein Healthcare Network in Philadelphia.
 
Maura Langan joins Baldwin in our newly created position of Lower School Counselor. Maura earned a B.S. in Counseling and Human Services from the University of Scranton and a M.Ed. in Counselor Education from The Pennsylvania State University. As a Certified Elementary School Counselor, Maura brings experience in providing individual, small group and classroom guidance as well as in collaborating with teachers and families to provide support for all students. Maura is dedicated to "supporting students' wellbeing and helping them achieve more through self-awareness, self-confidence, a positive self-image and a growth mindset."
 
Debora Lui joins the MS and US faculty in the Computer Science and Engineering Department. She earned a B.S. in Architecture and Business Management at MIT where she also holds an M.S. in Media Studies. Most recently, Deb completed a joint Ph.D. in Education and Communication from the University of Pennsylvania. She has taught at both MIT and University of Pennsylvania and designed curriculum for high school Computer Science classrooms. Some of her research has been funded by the National Science Foundation and Google. Deb’s most recent experience as an educator was at the MIT Museum, where she taught LEGO Mindstorms robotics workshops to middle and high school students. One aspect that particularly excites her about joining Baldwin is “the prospect of working with young people on a regular basis and participating in their growth.”
 
Jessica Silverberg Konopka joins the MS and US faculty in the Visual Arts Department. She earned a B.S. in Art Education from the Penn State University. Jessica taught a variety of art courses at the Hill-Freedman World Academy and Freire Charter Middle School, both in Philadelphia, and the Boston Collegiate Charter School over the last 7 years. Jessica believes her “passion for art making, along with her ability to design and teach challenging and creatively immersive art units, has instilled in her students a love for creativity.”
 
Helen Snyder joins Baldwin as the Database Administrator and Scheduler. With more than 10 years' experience in public and private schools, as well as private sector information technology experience, Helen will serve as a resource for multiple areas as we continue to upgrade and integrate our information systems.
 
Amie Soya-Bongay joins us as the Administrative Assistant to the Upper School Director. She holds a B.A. in Political Science from Temple University as well as an M.S. in Criminal Justice from Saint Joseph’s University. She brings a wide variety of work experience while most recently acting as a legal assistant in a Philadelphia law firm. She is excited to become an important part of the daily operations of the Upper School.
 
Sara Sultanik joins Baldwin as the Social Media and Marketing Coordinator. Sara was previously the Communications Associate at Kent Place School, an independent, nonsectarian day school for girls and young women in Summit, NJ. She has a B.A. from Muhlenberg College in Media & Communications and Theater and an M.S. from Syracuse University in Broadcast Journalism.
 
Scott Warfel joins the Baldwin community as the MS and US Drama teacher. He is an experienced teacher of theatre who has been devoted to independent school education for over 25 years. Scott earned his B.A. from Eckerd College and his M.A.S. in Film and Media Studies from Arizona State University. Before coming to Baldwin, Scott served as the Director of Theatre at the Ashley Hall School. His education philosophy is “rooted in creating an atmosphere where students of varying abilities are able to explore, examine and experience the art form in the classroom and on stage.”
 
Lynn Willson joins Baldwin as the Assistant Director of Alumnae Engagement. She holds a B.A. in Communications/Mass Media and in English/Creative Writing from Virginia Tech. She also holds her M.A. in Elementary Education from Cabrini College. She’s recently worked as the Assistant Director of Admissions at The Abington Friends School.
