Baldwin Students Win Columbia Gold Circle Awards

 
The Columbia Scholastic Press Association recently announced the winners from its 36th Gold Circle Awards program for newspapers and magazines. Four Baldwin students were recognized with a total of 5 awards:
  • Cultural feature — 2nd Place - Kit Conklin ’20, “Why GenZ Misses the 80s," The Hourglass
  • News Page Design — 3rd Place - Sophie Cai ’22, "Issue VI, p. 5,” The Hourglass
  • Single illustration: hand-drawn – 3rd Place - Melody Gui ’21, "Flowers Still Life," The Roman Candle
  • Feature Page Design — Certificate of Merit - Grace Yun ’20, "Issue VI, p. 18," The Hourglass
  • Design Portfolio of work — Certificate of Merit - Grace Yun ’20, The Hourglass
The Gold Circle Awards are offered in late September to recognize work by individual student journalists working with print during the previous academic year. The 7,187 entries from the 86 categories in the Gold Circle Awards for newspapers and magazines were judged during late August. The entries for this competition come from publications produced by students at colleges, universities and secondary schools through the United States and abroad who follow the American education plan.
