Three Baldwin Students Selected for Germination Project

Congratulations to Krisangi Bhargava ’22, Emma Chen ’22  and Grace Halak ‘22 who were selected through a rigorous application process to participate in the Germination Project, which is an initiative dedicated to returning the city of Philadelphia to its historic leadership role both politically and industrially through the development of the next generational network of private and public sector leaders.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, The Germination Project is moving forward. They have pivoted and doubled down on initiatives related to COVID-19, and the Fellows continue to work on exciting, innovative projects. The organization is developing an updated strategic plan and vision, all of which will be communicated in the coming weeks. As a preview, they have created the following video:

The Germination Project also is working closely with Penn Medicine to make sure their Summer Leadership Boot Camp, whether in-person, virtual or somewhere in between, remains an immersive and intense learning experience for the 2020 Fellowship Class. The Boot Camp is usually a two-week program originally designed by the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business/Wharton Social Impact Initiative, and now resides under the auspices of Penn Medicine. It aims to inspire Fellows to maximize their individual potential and ability to make a broad positive impact on the world through a two-fold approach of leadership development and social entrepreneurial skills development. Under the guidance and direction of experienced professors and guest lecturers, the Fellows, individually and collectively, undertake a range of experiential learning opportunities designed to develop the leadership skills needed to thrive as leaders.

Through their involvement in specially-designed service initiatives in Health Care, Literacy and Public Markets, Germination Project Fellows have the unique opportunity to work alongside leaders from a variety of prominent forward-thinking organizations, companies and academic institutions. Fellows gain invaluable experience working to identify, understand and develop strategies to key issues and problems that impact the lives of Philadelphians and the world at large.
