Students Recognized in Draw-the-Lines Competition

In this year's Draw-the-Lines statewide mapping competition Ava Zarzycki '23 and Ashley Zhou '23 were awarded first place for their map of the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives. They are the first high schoolers to win this category. Elva Chen '22, Olivia Choo '26, Estella Stein '22 and Anna Wang '22 each received honorable mentions for their maps. The students learned about gerrymandering and political maps in their I2 experience titled "Math, Maps and Democracy" taught by Upper School History Teacher Dr. Athan Biss, Upper School Math Teacher Cathy Young, Middle School History Teacher Bridget Dougherty and Middle School Math Teacher Barb Cass. Baldwin had the most students advance to the finals of any school in Pennsylvania.
