Baldwin Students Win 2022 Columbia Gold Circle Awards

The Columbia Scholastic Press Association recently announced the winners from its 39th Gold Circle Awards program for print news and magazines. Baldwin’s school newspaper, The Hourglass, won six awards for 2022:
 
  • First Place: Anna Wang ’22 (Page One Design for "What is Baldwin Doing to Improve Environmental Sustainability?”)
  • Third Place: Cynthia Zhang ’24 (News Design for “The Caliber of Instagram’s Effect on Teenage Girls.”)
  • Third Place: Sophie Cai ’22 (Headline Design for “Artist of the Issue Indeera Pujar.”
  • Certificate of Merit: Anna Wang ’22 and Emily Zhang ’23 (Editorial Page Design for “Are New Year’s Resolutions Worth It?”)
  • Certificate of Merit: Emily Zhang ’23 (Feature Page Design for "Flowers at Baldwin and the Stories Behind Them.")
  • Certificate of Merit: Elva Chen ’22, (Computer Generated Art for “Human Trafficking in New Jersey.”)
 
More than 4,200 print news and magazine entrants were submitted from publications produced by students at colleges, universities and secondary schools through the United States and overseas who follow an American education plan. Entries were accepted from from June 11, 2021 through June 10, 2022. Therefore, they are known as the 2022 Gold Circle Awards. Student journalists chose from 51 print news categories.
