Baldwin Partners with Peter Pennoyer Architects to Launch Comprehensive Campus Master Plan

The Baldwin School is proud to announce its partnership with the distinguished New York City-based firm Peter Pennoyer Architects to develop a new, comprehensive campus master plan. This initiative aims to create a long-range vision that ensures the School’s physical environment directly supports its mission, strategic plan, and distinctive pedagogy for generations to come.

 

The master plan will provide a disciplined framework for growth and will take a holistic look at Baldwin’s entire 27-acre campus, examining vital elements such as adjacencies between school divisions, green space, athletics, innovative learning spaces, and parking. A primary goal is to determine how potential new construction can be intentionally integrated with Baldwin’s celebrated historical architecture and unique campus character.

 

A central focus of this partnership will be the nationally recognized Frank Furness-designed Residence, the heart of Baldwin’s campus. The School is looking forward to PPA’s concepts and timeline for the full restoration of this landmark building, unlocking its potential to serve as part of a high-functioning, modern Pre-K – Grade 12 learning environment while preserving its historic glory.

Peter Pennoyer Architects was selected following a comprehensive process and is recognized for their sophisticated work in new construction, renovation, and historic preservation at peer institutions such as The Hotchkiss School and Guild Hall.

Over the next few months, PPA will conduct extensive research, stakeholder interviews, and facilities assessments to develop a final plan that equips Baldwin to thrive well into the future.
