Pennsylvania Tax Credit Programs

The Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) and the Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC) programs allow Pennsylvania taxpayers and business owners to support independent schools through scholarship funds. By participating in these programs, individuals and organizations can earn a tax credit of up to 90% of certain Pennsylvania taxes while helping provide access to a Baldwin education for students who may not otherwise have the opportunity.

At Baldwin, nearly $2 million per year in tuition assistance is funded through the EITC and OSTC programs. Donors contributed either directly through their businesses or as individual taxpayers, ensuring that more qualified students can benefit from a Baldwin experience. We invite you to consider joining this vital effort to expand educational opportunities and transform lives.

Tax credits are available on a first-come, first-served basis for contributions to scholarship organizations, such as The Baldwin School. Credits can be applied against the tax liability for the year in which the contribution is made. Both businesses and individuals can receive a tax credit equal to 75% of their contribution, with a maximum of $750,000 per taxable year. Participants who commit to contributing to Baldwin for two consecutive years may be eligible for a tax credit equal to 90% of their contribution.

  • How can I participate as an individual taxpayer in Pennsylvania?

Individuals may join a Special Purpose Entity (SPE) that allows personal tax liabilities to flow through it. Joining an SPE enables Pennsylvania taxpayers to receive a tax credit of up to 90% of the donation amount, as well as a federal charitable tax deduction. Donors should contribute directly to the SPE, which have varying minimum amounts required. The SPE will then donate to Baldwin and issue you a credit for your state taxes.
  • How can I participate through my Pennsylvania-based company?

Businesses may apply directly to the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. Please contact Stephen Hammond (email link)  for information on the application process and deadlines.
