The acceptance of gifts-in-kind is made on a case-by-case basis, with the primary criteria the gift's ability to further the mission of the School. For additional information on gifts-in-kind contact Laura J. Armstrong, Chief Development Officer, at (610) 525-2700 x286.
For those of you who are 70 ½ years old and older, there is a special opportunity this year to support Baldwin! You can give any amount (up to a maximum of $108,000 in 2025) this year from your IRA without having to pay income taxes on the money. This type of gift is commonly referred to as the IRA charitable rollover, but it may also be known as a qualified charitable distribution (QCD). As well, beginning in the year you turn 73, you can use your gift to satisfy all or part of your required minimum distribution (RMD). These donations can be directed to support one of our many funds or initiatives that you are passionate about. To confirm if you qualify and if a QCD or RMD through your IRA is the right gift for you, please seek the advice of your financial and/or legal advisor. To discuss options for maximizing the impact of your philanthropy, please contact Stephen Hammond to explore further.
Here are more reasons to consider a gift from your IRA:
QCD gifts are put to use today, allowing you to see the difference your donation is making.
If you are required to take minimum distributions, you can use your gift to satisfy all or part of your obligation.
You pay no income taxes on the gift. The transfer generates neither taxable income nor a tax deduction, so you benefit even if you do not itemize your deductions.
Since the gift doesn’t count as income, it can reduce your AGI. This may help lower your Medicare premiums and reduce the amount of Social Security income subject to tax.
If you are interested in making a QCD gift, please complete the following steps:

Please contact your IRA administrator to obtain a change-of-beneficiary form. Please let us know of your intentions, as many retirement plan administrators assume no obligation to notify a charity of your designation. Notifying us will ensure that the intentions of your philanthropy are upheld and allow us to express our gratitude for your generosity.
Planned giving helps ensure The Baldwin School’s ability to empower girls for generations to come. You can make a planned gift by including Baldwin in your will or trust, naming the school as a beneficiary of a retirement plan (IRA) or life insurance policy.
