This year, Baldwin's Middle School community celebrated Wellness Day with mixed-grade activities that allowed students to get to know each other across grade levels and content areas. They began the day by walking to the Bryn Mawr Film Institute to watch a movie together.
Taking one full day to perform wellness exercises, crafts and service projects provided a great start to implementing good mental health strategies that will last throughout the academic year. In the afternoon, the students were broken into groups to do various activities including yoga, dance, origami, bracelet making and journaling. In addition, helping our local and global communities with smaller service projects better prepared our Middle School students for their full day of service, which is next month. The girls put together grab and go food bags and made reusable shopping bags. They also wrote letters to seniors and made placemats and planted small plants. Most importantly, Middle School Wellness Day created stronger connections for our students and faculty, allowing them to spend time with others who are not in their grade level, class or even on their same schedule.
