Roya Alidjani ’17 Debuts Film at Philadelphia Film Society’s Springfest

At The Baldwin School, we often speak about developing "talented girls into confident young women with the vision to make significant and enduring contributions to the world." Few embody this mission more vividly than Roya Alidjani ’17, a visionary Iranian-American filmmaker and producer who is already making her mark on the global stage.

Roya’s journey recently brought her back to the Philadelphia area for the Philadelphia Film Society's Springfest, where her latest directorial effort, the short film My Yellow, Your Red, was selected for showcase. The screening was a true testament to Baldwin’s “vibrant sisterhood,” as her classmate Sarai Brown-Alexander ’17 and Baldwin teacher Lisa Ameisen ’76, were in the audience to cheer her on.

Since graduating from Baldwin, Roya has cultivated a distinguished career. An alum of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, she is the Co-Founder and Executive Producer of Ladytrap Productions, based in both New York and Los Angeles. Her impressive portfolio includes producing for Sesame Street, the Academy Award-qualifying short film Apollo, and the Tribeca-selected short BURROW. Her work has been featured on major platforms including Max, PBS, and the Tribeca Film Festival.

As female filmmaker, Roya’s creative mission is deeply aligned with Baldwin's vision of cultivating bold thinkers and brave leaders. She intentionally focuses on telling the more difficult stories, with the goal of bringing underrepresented individuals to the forefront, both in front of and behind the camera.
